DATA MIGRATION BETWEEN ENVIRONMENTS
Having production data in the test environment allows testers to work with meaningful data, being able to easily replicate real-life scenarios, and to not lose time setting up data for already existing ones.
This is also a very useful tool for the development team, being able to use live data to troubleshoot reported issues. It’s common to have data-related issues in production, that are not easily replicated in development due to data differences. By migrating data from production to test or development environments, it enables a faster and smoother troubleshooting experience, leading to more efficient bug-fixing.
Adding to that, if there’s no need to migrate the entire dataset, MOVE IT allows to easily filter the database tables, migrating only a sub-set, helping with other environments’ database space usage.
DATA MIGRATION BETWEEN CATALOGS
It might happen that, at some point and for some reason, there’s a need to create a new database catalog. If the application is already live, using a new catalog means having no data, and that’s a scenario we can cover.
With our tool, it’s possible to, not only migrate between OutSystems environments, but to migrate data between catalogs, allowing refactoring of the database, and keeping the entire dataset ready to use.
DATA MIGRATION BETWEEN OS ENTITIES
Sometimes when developing applications you need to refactor the database. A scenario might be refactoring the architecture of an application, to improve scalability or to prepare for a new platform like ODC, which might bring the need to move database entities between modules. Creating a new table, even if ‘copy-pasting’ an entity from one place to another, is still creating a new table and, that means, it will be empty.
By using MOVE IT, you can migrate data from the original table to the copy one, being able to immediately use the application after the refactoring is done, without having to manually export and import data, including building logic for that.
DATA MIGRATION BETWEEN CLOUD AND ON-PREMISES
If you are moving from cloud to on-premises, or vice versa, MOVE IT can safely migrate the entire database between installations.
With all features available for this scenario, including filtering, mapping, and obfuscation if needed, LINKIT can help with the entire process, including allowing the applications to Go Live in the new installation without any data issues.
DATA DELETION
To clean-up ‘dirty data’ from any environment, enabling a fresh start, or to prepare for a migration, with MOVE IT you can select which database tables you wish to clear, and proceed with the action.
This feature can be paired with filtering and scheduling, being a powerful combination when combined with the migration option. You can create a schedule, starting with a deletion plan, and followed by a migration plan, resulting in a clean set of test data.
DATA EXPORT
For audit reasons, or to keep track of the data being used by users or test purposes, it might come the need to export the information from the database.
With MOVE IT, along with the data migration options, you can create a plan with all the database tables you wish to export, and choose the format, excel or JSON.
Obfuscation
MOVE IT presents an obfuscation feature that can be used in Exports and Migrations between environments, and it is available for every attribute, except binary data and foreign keys. If your database has sensitive information that should not be migrated or exported, we can cover that being compliant to GDPR guidelines.
Schedule
Our tool allows starting a flow of plans automatically at a given schedule.
Mapping
When migrating data, if your target environment already has information that matches data from your source environment, you can use this feature to map such records between environments, avoiding duplicated data after the migration.
Rollback
If a migration finishes and, for some reason, either there was an error, or was cancelled, and you want to rollback, there’s an option to do that.
Filters
This tool also offers you the possibility to filter the database before migrating data. By using the Filters feature, it’s possible to apply a condition to limit the amount of data to be migrated, and to migrate only certain records that comply to a specific clause.
MOVE IT operates on a subscription-based model, granting access to continuous updates, new features, and dedicated support to enhance your experience.
This product is targeted to all Platform Managers and Tech Leads, who struggle to have clean and meaningful data in the test/stage environments, who could use real data to troubleshoot an issue happening in the production environment, or who could use a tool to export or delete all data from an environment. You can have all of these possibilities in one.
With a clean interface, easy and flowing user experience, you’ll be able to easily manage your own migrations, in an effortless and automated way, with the option to schedule migration plans, allowing an automated process outside working hours.
When accessing MOVE IT, you are presented with an informative dashboard screen, where you can have a clear overview of your migration history and statistics.
