About the MVP Award

Among the thousands of developers who use OutSystems every day, there are truly passionate tech experts who contribute to the community regularly, both online and offline, and evangelize the product every chance they get.

The OutSystems Most Valuable Professionals Award recognizes these valuable experts and introduces them to the OutSystems ecosystem of partners and customers as the best developers on the market. Starting this year, the program will now be an annual award program. The new MVP award will be given out once a year, and the winners will be selected based on their contributions made within the previous year.

Meet our MVPs

Nomination process

MVP Award candidates will be nominated and referred by the community. This means that there are no applications, and self-nominations are not considered for the process.

The nomination process will open on December 4 and, until January 5, every community member is welcome to participate and recommend their peers to be nominated for the OutSystems MVP 2023 award.

All nominations will be reviewed by the OutSystems Community team, and a select number of candidates will be interviewed to understand their motivations and technical expertise.

Eligibility criteria

To be considered for the MVP award, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

Have strong knowledge of the OutSystems platform with hands-on experience, pushing themselves to always be on-top of the platform's features.
Act like an OutSystems advocate, be a champion when it comes to promoting OutSystems and motivating others to learn new skills and advance their careers.
Be helpful! There are a lot of different ways to do it: helping other fellow community members, helping other communities to understand what OutSystems is or even helping OutSystems improve their products.

There are several areas of contribution; an MVP should be a reference in one of these areas and be understood and recognized to be a go-to person by other community members and by OutSystems.

Actively participate in the various community initiatives and activities, such as the Forums, the Forge, the User Groups, through technical documentation, etc.

Defining best practices

Help define best practices and document the ways to use OutSystems products to solve complicated business problems.

Helping others

Help other fellow community members, through guidance or mentorship, by answering their questions or even building components they can reuse in their own projects.

What are the eligibility criteria to be selected as an MVP?

To be considered for the MVP award, the candidate must have the following requirements:

Act like an OutSystems advocate, be a champion when it comes to promote OutSystems and motivating others to learn new skills and advance their careers.
Be helpful! There are a lot of different ways to do it: helping other fellow community members, helping other communities to understand what OutSystems is or even helping OutSystems improve their products.

There are several areas of contribution: helping others, community activity, defining best practices, creating relevant content, providing product feedback, and advocating for OutSystems.

An MVP should be a reference in one of these areas, understood and recognized as a go-to person by other community members and by OutSystems.

How does the selection process work?

Each nomination will be reviewed by the Developer Relations team, and it will be screened according to the eligibility criteria.

If the candidate does not fulfill the requirements for the award, they will not be part of the shortlist of people to be interviewed.

If they meet all the defined criteria during the screening process, they will be invited to a set of interviews with the Developer Relations team and a council of OutSystems Product and Engineering experts. These interviews will focus mainly on understanding the candidate’s technical expertise, past experience with OutSystems, and their contributions to the community or OutSystems products that should be awarded.

After the interviews, the OutSystems Community team will analyze all the assessments collected and decide whether they will be awarded

What is the difference between the Champions program and the MVP Award?

The major differences between both:

The MVPs are a restricted, small and exclusive group, while the Champions are an extended group of community members that will continuously grow
The MVP Award candidates need to be nominated by the community but in the Champions program, candidates can nominate themselves.
The MVP program is focused on exquisite technical expertise, awarding the title to highly qualified experts in the community, while the Champions program is not focused on any specific type of background because different types of contributions require different skill sets
All MVPs are under NDAs because they access a lot of privileged information from OutSystems, whereas no Champion will be under any sort of NDA
MVPs have moderator rights on the online community, but Champions do not

Is there exclusivity between other advocacy programs?

There is exclusivity between the OutSystems community advocacy programs - the MVP program and the Champions program. This means that an MVP cannot simultaneously be a Champion, and vice-versa.

However, there is no exclusivity with other advocacy programs, such as the Ambassadors program. An MVP can simultaneously be an Ambassador, and vice-versa.

There are no limitations regarding transferring from one program to another, if all eligibility criteria are met.
